Kristin School student achieves Bolshoi Ballet dream

Year 11 Kristin School student Harriet Powell has become the first New Zealander to be awarded a four-year full-time position training at the prestigious 244-year-old Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Russia.

At the end of six weeks of intensive training in Moscow, 10 girls out of 90 dancers from around the world were accepted in the latest intake. Harriet is now one step closer to achieving her goal of being a principal dancer at Bolshoi Ballet Company or Mariinsky Ballet Company.

Harriet has worked extremely hard to get to where she is today, and it's an amazing achievement for the 15-year-old, who only started learning ballet three years ago.

One News has covered Harriet's story, and you can read more about Harriet and her journey here.
