St Peter's, Cambridge Senior Girls 3x3 Basketball became New Zealand champions at the National 3x3 Championships in Tauranga over the weekend.

Auckland International College student Michaela Jeong gained a perfect score of 45/45 in her IB Diploma in 2016 and as a result received an impressive number of university offers from the University of Tokyo, Imperial College London, University College London, Edinburgh University, New York University, the University of Michigan, the University of California and the University of Toronto.  She chose to accept the offer from the University of Tokyo where she was awarded a full scholarship to study Environmental Sciences in their International Programme.

NO. 1 FOR FEMALE CHAMPIONS AND NO.2 FOR MALE CHAMPIONS IN THE REGION

St Peter's has placed first for female champions and second for male champions in the Central Zone Athletics championships.

Sport Waikato calculated the official results based on points earned across all track and field events in all age groups - junior, intermediate and senior. Each school earned points for every 1st – 6th placing.

Queen Margaret College is now in its sixth year of delivering the International Baccalaureate Diploma and as per previous years, the 2016 cohort achieved a 100% pass rate after sitting the examinations in November.

Two students, Shweta Iyer and Charlotte Hollywood, scored 40 points or above and they were recognised for their success at the Top Scholars’ Awards Ceremony by Governor General Patsy Reddy in February. The world mean is 30 out of 45.

The Prime Minister's Education Excellence Awards recognise and celebrate outstanding achievements in early childhood education, primary and secondary schooling.  

There are four awards categories that schools can enter:

Excellence in Engaging – Atahāpara Award
Excellence in Leading – Atakura Award
Excellence in Teaching and Learning – Atatū Award
Excellence in Governing – Awatea Award
