Wellington Private Education Network StudyCare Orientation Day Out in Wellington
On Saturday 3 February, StudyCare launched its 2018 programme with a fun Wellington orientation day and bowls and buffet evening for international students from Chilton Saint James School, Samuel Marsden Collegiate and Scots College.
StudyCare is the pastoral care and experience programme run as part of the Wellington Private Education Network (WPEN) that provides international students studying at Chilton Saint James School, Samuel Marsden and Scots with fun opportunities to experience New Zealand culture and assistance with settling into life while studying here in Wellington.
Saturday’s orientation event for new students was a day of city exploration which involved a Cuba Street treasure hunt, absorbing the views from the top of the cable car and some tasty kaimoana from Karaka Cafe. In the evening all international students, their Homestay families and international staff from the three schools came together to learn how to play lawn bowls and feast on some international fare (including such Kiwi delicacies as lamingtons!) at the Newtown Workingmen’s Bowling Club. The day was a successful launch to the second year for the StudyCare programme and a wonderful opportunity for students and families to get to know one another.
StudyCare students have lots to look forward to in the 2018 calendar including university visits, circus workshops, a trip to Christchurch and kayaking adventures down the Whanganui River. If you would like to find out more about WPEN and StudyCare you can visit the new WPEN website here.
