Queen Margaret College packs the bus for charity

Santa Claus came to Queen Margaret College on Thursday 30 November, but he wasn’t dropping presents off… he was collecting them.

The Breeze, in support of Wellington City Mission, brought a bus with Santa on board to Queen Margaret College as part of the annual “Pack the Bus” campaign to help the community at Christmas time.

Year 8 students organised for the bus to come to school to be filled with gifts and toys from students and teachers.

St Peter's School tennis star awarded scholarship to Ivy League college

It's not often four international universities come knocking on your door, offering scholarships to study for the next few years of your life.

Mississippi State University, Maryland University, the University of California Santa Barbara and Dartmouth College all offered full scholarships to St Peter's student Nina Paripovich.

In the end the young Hamilton woman decided Dartmouth College was the place to be and accepted a tennis scholarship worth $75,000 for each of the four years of study towards her degree.

Three wonderful educators from our Member Schools have made it to the finals of the EducationHQ Unsung Heroes Awards. There are five finalists in each category, and every vote counts!

ACG Tauranga teachers win NZ Vodafone Tui Award

A band featuring two ACG Tauranga music teachers has won the Tui for best Worship Artist for 2017 at the recent NZ Vodafone Music Awards.

‘Curate Music’ features ACG Tauranga music teacher Kelly Hayward (songwriter and keys) and itinerant vocal and guitar teacher Antony Jeffares (songwriter, vocalist and instrumentalist), alongside eight other band members.

This week’s award is the second Tui for the band which formed in 2009, and marks the success of their third album ‘These Eyes’.

Springbank School students' Enterprise Project a boon for local families

Changing tables have been installed at a Kerikeri public toilet thanks to two Springbank School students.

Max Stovell, 13, and Naaman Boxer, 14, were proud to see change tables installed in both the women's and men's Far North District Council toilets on Cobham Rd in November.

The work to get the facilities started in February as part of their Year 9 Enterprise class where the students were tasked with working on a project to benefit the community.

Max was inspired after seeing his mother Emma unable to change his two-year-old sister Lake at the public toilets.
