Samuel Marsden students win big at College Sport Wellington Awards

Samuel Marsden Collegiate School had 18 girls nominated for the 2017 College Sports Wellington (CSW) Awards presented at Te Rauparaha Arena this week. Four made it to the finals; Imogen Skelton (athletics), Ruby Leverington (rowing), Jade Otway (tennis) and Rachel Bertschinger (floorball) and two won their individual codes. Imogen Skelton was female Athlete of the Year and Ruby Leverington female Rower of the Year.

King's College student claims spot on New Zealand Powered Wheelchair Football team

Michael Wheeler (Year 11) moved a big step closer to his Paralympics goal last month, representing both Auckland and then New Zealand in the Australian Powered Wheelchair Football Association tournament in Sydney, Australia.

After competing in the Auckland representative team for the first half of the week, the highly competitive athlete was then selected to represent New Zealand and play for three trans-Tasman matches. After a competitive bout, the New Zealand team placed runners up to the Australian team.

International sporting success for Queen Margaret College student

An enthusiastic and athletic international Queen Margaret College student is one of twelve students across six categories to be recognised at the Wellington International Student Excellence Awards at the end of October.

Year 12 student Amber (Shiyu) Jiang received an award in the Sports category at the annual event for excelling in both rowing and basketball.

Christ's College and St Margaret's College win prestigious film award

The Christ's College and St Margaret's College film "A Perfect Child" has scooped an ATOM award in Melbourne. The award for best Fiction Film of 2017 was presented to Simon Brown (writer, Christ's College) and Nina Hogg (production manager, St Margaret's College), at the awards ceremony earlier this week.

The film tells the story of an orphan who risks her identity when she tries to expose events that she believes are happening at the orphanage she lives in. You can view a clip here.
