Strategic Leadership & Management (Years 0–5):
This role involves providing visionary and effective leadership for Years 0–5, cultivating a positive and high-achieving learning environment. It includes the management and mentorship of deans, teachers, and support staff, promoting collaboration and a high-performing team culture. A key responsibility is to oversee the delivery and implementation of engaging and effective educational programmes for students in these foundational years.
Pastoral Care & Well-being:
The role includes the oversight of pastoral care and behaviour support systems to ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students. It involves guiding and supporting Deans and teachers in addressing the diverse well-being needs of students across Years 0–5.
Curriculum & Professional Development:
A central aspect of the role is to lead and coordinate professional development initiatives across learning areas, with a focus on structured literacy and mathematics in collaboration with the Deputy Headmaster of Years 6–8. The position also plays a significant role in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the IB PYP curriculum during its candidacy period. In partnership with key personnel, the role contributes to pedagogical leadership, assessment, and reporting practices across the school.
Staff Appraisal & Development (Years 0–5):
This includes overseeing the appraisal processes for teaching, library, and learning support staff within Years 0–5. The role is also responsible for identifying and supporting the ongoing professional growth and development of staff to ensure high-quality teaching and learning outcomes.
School-Wide Contribution:
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, this position contributes to the strategic direction and overall management of the school. Additional responsibilities include participating in staff recruitment, planning and delivering school-wide professional development, and managing relief and cover arrangements for one term. The role also includes leading school tours for prospective families, overseeing girls' pastoral care and welfare, and maintaining a teaching component as needed. Furthermore, the role oversees the Learning Support team, Library team, Mentor Teachers, and student teachers involved in teacher education programmes.
