Job Description
Scots College is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and experienced leader to be part of our Middle School leadership team.
We have experienced significant growth in the number of female students joining the Middle School since 2021.
Ideally, our successful candidate will have had significant middle or senior management experience with full involvement in all aspects of life in a school. They will be well used to a dynamic coeducational environment where the wellbeing of the students is paramount and will pursue excellence in all they do.
This role will have a mixture of responsibilities covering key aspects of pastoral care and day to day school operations. It will provide opportunities to lead whole school initiatives, including the programme for our EOTC week, as well as playing a vital role in leading a high functioning pastoral team that provides care for all our students. The pastoral care team includes our House Deans and well-being staff, and the successful candidate will work closely with them to ensure we deliver the best pastoral care frameworks and structures possible. They will also have significant responsibilities in student management and operations.
With a national and international reputation for excellence, Scots College is a world-class independent co-educational school with a strong Presbyterian heritage. It is an IB World School in Wellington, NZ and comprises three schools in one; Junior (1-6), Middle (7-10) and Senior (11-13). We provide our students with an excellent, holistic education within a vibrant learning environment, to allow them to contribute as global citizens who think creatively, reason critically, communicate effectively and develop the skills necessary to Learn. For life.
Scots College offers a dual pathway for senior students offering both NCEA and the IB Diploma as well as our own Year 11 programme. The College is fully authorised for the delivery of the Diploma and Middle Years Programmes. Teaching opportunities for this role may exist across either or both of these pathways.
Key attributes of this candidate include:
• High standards and expectations of students
• A passion for inclusivity and for supporting and helping young people to succeed
• The ability to manage and motivate young people
• Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A commitment to our special character and co-curricular programmes
• Having a strong interest in the students, their families and the community
• High levels of integrity, practiced judgement and discretion
• Strong planning and organisational skills
• Being a participating and contributing team player.
If you are motivated by the prospect of being a member of Scots College Senior Leadership team, then we would be delighted to hear from you. The successful candidate will commence in this role in time for the beginning of Term 3, July 2025. However, we would consider an earlier start by negotiation.
