English Teacher

Responsible to Head of Learning Area

Key Tasks

- Provide learning opportunities that equip students to be literate, curious, confident, resilient, collaborative, innovative and empathetic.

- Teach English – Years 9-13

- Use effective teaching and learning strategies that focus on knowing and engaging learners.

- Contribute to the development and sharing of quality teaching and learning strategies and programmes of learning.

- Facilitate learning in an inclusive and positive environment that responds to the needs and passions of all learners.

- Be responsible for the progression in learning and assessment of learning.

- Attend relevant meetings and engage in professional learning opportunities.

- Participate positively with the Rangi Ruru Professional Growth Cycle withing our Professional Learning Community, including the regular gathering of student voice and analysis of data to inform practice.

- Model and uphold the Professional Teaching Standards and Code of Conduct.

- If appropriate, to engage positively in the Induction and Mentoring programme for Provisionally Registered Teachers.

- Effectively report on student achievement and progress to parents/caregivers.

- Contribute to the pastoral care and mentoring of students by being a Form Tutor.

- Contribute to the co-curricular life of the school.
