Head of School

Founded in 1911, Southwell School (Southwell) is today a leading independent co-educational primary school based in Hamilton. Serving students between Years 1 – 8, Southwell has a long and proud history of providing premium education and extra-curricular activities from across the Waikato region and beyond. Located on a beautiful, expansive campus in the heart of Hamilton, Southwell exists to provide a moral and intellectual learning journey for its students, guided by strong Christian values.

The current roll is ~650 and both day and boarding services are offered. Southwell maintains a strong financial position and is actively exploring how it may continue to evolve and grow.  

The Board of Trustees is seeking a new Head of School to lead Southwell through its next chapter. They will inspire a high performing, forward-thinking management team. They will promote an innovative educational platform that drives the best from students and staff alike – empowering creativity and fulfilling potential. The Head of School will be a critical ambassador of the school – visible amongst the community and actively cultivating the special relational character that is the quintessential Southwell.  

The incoming Head of School will bring strong leadership credentials, with a track record of instilling educational excellence within an independent school context. They will be strategic, with exceptional commercial and operational management skills. They will be experienced in collaborating with a Board of Trustees, with relevant tertiary qualifications in education and/or business management. The next Head of School will emulate the values that guide both Southwell School, and its underpinning Anglican faith.
