Our school combines the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) with the New Zealand curriculum, fostering academic excellence within our special character context.

About the Role:

As Principal of St Mark's School, you will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to our school community.

Key responsibilities include:

- Ensuring excellence in teaching and learning across both IB PYP and NZ curriculum

- Working alongside the Board of Trustees and the General Manager, on the development and implementation of the school's strategic plan.

- Maintaining and enhancing the school's special character

- Fostering positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the wider community

- Ensuring compliance with educational requirements

- Leading professional development and continuous improvement initiatives for teaching staff

- Representing the school in the wider educational community

- Working effectively with the Board of Trustees and the school’s Senior Leadership Team

- Spending up to one day a week teaching (0.2 FTE).

About You:

We are looking for a person with the drive and commitment to ensure the best quality education is delivered to students and with the following attributes:

- Proven experience working as a Principal (3-5 years).

- A highly competent, registered teacher with current curriculum knowledge of the PYP programme and IB in general, as well as connection with the NZ curriculum.

- Higher level qualification in education.

- Experience managing staff including employment relations, pastoral support and performance management.

- Awareness of bicultural and multicultural issues in New Zealand.

Why Join Us?

- Ability to focus on honing your educational leadership skills, while shaping the curriculum and driving excellence through the development of teaching staff (business management of the school is the responsibility of the General Manager).

- Be part of a welcoming and supportive school community.

- Work in a central Wellington location with a well-appointed campus.

- Opportunities for professional development and career growth.

- Contribute to a school that values respect, integrity, and excellence.

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a prestigious school with a rich heritage and bright future. The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of this senior leadership position.
