Do you have knowledge and an appreciation of Te Reo me ona tikanga Māori within an educational framework? This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual to join our team at King’s College. You will teach Te Reo Māori - Levels 1-8 of the New Zealand curriculum/Te Marautanga o Aotearoa whilst supporting our schools kapahaka group through your knowledge and leadership. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, teaching, and learning to our diverse student group and ensuring a progressive and supportive learning environment, one which fosters inclusivity for all.


Criteria for application to include:

- High Fluency and understanding of Te Reo me ona tikanga Māori

- Current teacher registration; provisional registration or be studying for a tertiary qualification in teaching

- Ability to teach to NCEA Level 3 Te Reo Maori

- Ability to build strong relationships with our students and their whānau

- Passionate and dedicated to leading the cultural experience within King’s College

- Collaborative and enjoys contributing and working as part of a team.

Skills and Competence:

- Demonstrates ability to communicate to parents, teachers, Head of Departments, School Counsellors, and students in a diverse community

- Demonstrates commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership

- Ability to develop a learning/ pastoral environment that fosters creativity and excellence

- Collaborates and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with a wide variety of people

- Proven ability in mentoring and coaching students, prefects, and student leaders

- Provides high quality, evidence-based reporting ensuring opportunities, risks and preferred recommendations provide guidance for good decision making.
