Welcome Drinks in the historic dining hall at Christ’s College hailed the commencement of ‘Shifting Tides’, the 2024 Independent Schools of New Zealand Conference. The two-day conference was held at Te Pae, Christchurch on 30 and 31 August and was opened with a mihi whakatau, led by Te Taumata Tapu o Ngāi Tūāhuriri, followed by a kapa haka performance by students from St. Andrew’s College.
With 190 Delegates, Speakers and Sponsors attending from as far away as Indonesia and Australia, plus across the motu, this year's conference was the largest one to date. Over the two days’ duration, we explored the many facets of the core theme, Shifting Tides – from what it means to lead through the meta crisis, to the rapid acceleration of AI (Artificial Intelligence), from developing a culture of innovation to help us to adapt to new challenges, to the impacts of generational change. From building social cohesion to growing communities through culture and connections.
We celebrated the strength of our community’s diversity and acknowledged that we bring with us a wide range of perspectives and experiences. It was a weekend of learning and connecting. Delegates mingled with our Sponsors during break and lunch times in the Exhibition Hall, reinforcing existing relationships and making new ones for future conversations.
The Conference Dinner and 2024 ISNZ Honours Awards were held at Christchurch Town Hall where we shared a glamorous and memorable evening enjoying each other’s company. We would like to congratulate those outstanding individuals who received a 2024 ISNZ Award.
Congratulations to Diocesan School for Girls who won $2,000 worth of travel from our sponsor, Tour Time, and to their Junior Dean for winning $1,000 worth of Air New Zealand flights!
We would like to thank everyone for making this event so successful and enjoyable.
