St Cuthbert’s College Boarding is a truly special place. Its three houses are located right on campus and Boarding is a home away from home for all its Boarders whether they are full, weekly or flexi Boarders. Melrose House has recently had a refresh with innovative storage and desk solutions, new beds and refreshed decor in the communal areas adding warmth and the feeling of home. The Senior students are thrilled with the updates. The Violet Wood Dining Hall is one of the locations where bonds are formed and strengthened as the Boarders chat whilst enjoying the delicious food that the chef prepares for them daily. There are a number of activities that the girls can participate in, along with themed nights and monthly birthday celebrations.
Recently Boarding celebrated ‘Wonder Women’ in their lives by sharing a meal together followed by a student-led Chapel service. This special event was dubbed “Wonder Women in Celebration of Mother’s Day,” transforming the dining hall and chapel into vibrant spaces of gratitude, laughter, and sisterhood.
The atmosphere was filled with respect and awe as the girls’ led reflections, readings, and songs celebrating the essence of womanhood, sisterhood, and the enduring bonds of friendship forged within the Boarding community. Head Boarder Jaime Lock, Deputy Head Border Gloria Meredith and Head Girl Anita Iese were all invited to speak, as well as several younger Boarders, all of whom talked of the appreciation and admiration for the women who have and continue to inspire and uplift them each day.
The “Wonder Women in Celebration of Mother’s Day” dinner and chapel served as a heartfelt reminder of the power of love, appreciation, and community St Cuthbert’s is lucky to have in Boarding, leaving a special mark on the hearts of all who attended.
Another great event that happened in Boarding recently was the annual talent quest, an evening teeming with energy and excitement. The staff and students were privileged to have three esteemed judges/teachers from the school’s performing arts department—Mr Gilmour, Ms Walsh, and Ms Bolton—judging the event. With an impressive turnout with over 20 entries. Witnessing the girls showcase their talents with such passion and confidence was truly remarkable.
St Cuthbert’s staff love seeing how Boarders embrace school life and enjoy the school grounds and facilities, daily. The camaraderie amongst the Boarders is infectious. The staff love watching Boarders grow up alongside one another and develop amazing friendships, confidence, independence and a sense of lasting sisterhood.
