A space to connect

Teacher Symposium, a space to connect

Andrew has over twenty years’ teaching experience, half of which has been spent teaching internationally.  He has been involved in many different teacher-to-teacher professional development events, including attending and presenting at international conferences and running multi-day workshops at his own school. He says, ‘I have found that whether you are attending or presenting at a teacher-led professional development event, you will come away with practical information and advice that has been tried and tested in a classroom, you will be inspired by other teachers and feel affirmed in the work that you do.’

The committee has devised four popular submission categories to cultivate a sense of collegiality:

  • Sharing success (30-45 minutes)
  • Teach the teachers (60-90 minutes)
  • Staffroom solutions (15 minutes)
  • "Un-conference" Proposal (60 minutes)

Andrew and the team want people to have honest conversations with each other, ‘to share successes, and things that may not have worked,’ he goes on to say, ‘you don’t need to write an abstract or create a graph to submit a session idea. If you are involved in something different, interesting, or just something that works well for your students or school, we would love it if you could share this with others. We know there is always a wealth of knowledge amongst both presenters and attendees,’

‘I am looking forward to learning about all the interesting things that are happening at ISNZ schools across the country, meeting new people, and connecting with other educators in roles like mine.’
