SchoolDocs is delighted to be attending the ISNZ conference this year in our home town of Ōtautahi. We’re looking forward to hearing about how schools are putting their policies and procedures into practice. If you’re a SchoolDocs subscriber keen to tell us how it’s working for your school, or if you’re thinking about signing up, we’d love to see you at the SchoolDocs stand.
In advance of the conference, we’ve put together some commonly asked questions.
How does the sign-up process work?
SchoolDocs has developed a more streamlined process for independent schools to get started with SchoolDocs. We recognise that independent schools have unique policy requirements and it’s our goal to make the sign-up and tailoring process more closely aligned to those needs. Independent schools now start with a sample policy framework that is designed around independent-specific guidelines. Your policies and procedures are then tailored to reflect the individual processes, preferences, and values of your school.
We work with schools during this sign-up and tailoring phase to ensure your policies are accurate for your school and meet good practice requirements. We’re happy to answer any questions and make changes as required before we finalise your policy set.
What happens after we finalise the site?
After you’ve let us know you’re happy with the policy set, you can formally minute the adoption of SchoolDocs. From there, we recommend spending some time becoming familiar with the site, then sharing it with your school staff and wider community.
Each SchoolDocs site has its own unique URL, with one login for the principal and board, and another login for your school staff and community. All users can search, read, and contribute to reviews of your policies and procedures. The principal and board also have access to the SchoolDocs Dashboard, where you can access notices, review feedback, school contacts, and extra resources.
How does the review process work for newly signed-up schools?
When your SchoolDocs site is finalised, we don’t expect you to review every page of your site. Signing up to SchoolDocs means you benefit from the schools that have contributed to the review cycle over time. Your policies and procedures reflect the collective input of these schools, as well as extensive research by the SchoolDocs team and external consultation where required.
We invite you to join in to the review cycle once your site is finalised so you can suggest improvements to any content, and comment on the implementation of your policies. We analyse feedback from all schools and make improvements to core content while maintaining the detail that makes your policies specific to your school.
What if we’d like a change outside the review cycle?
You can contact the SchoolDocs team at any time to discuss updates to your policies. If there are corrections that need to be made, you don’t need to wait for the policy to be under review. We’re happy to discuss how we can make your policy set better suit your school.
The SchoolDocs team is also happy to provide advice about using the site, sharing it with your community, and finding what you need. You’re welcome to send us an email or give our office team a call.
