Scots College is delighted to announce the appointment of Rachel Huggins as the new Principal of the Junior School.
Rachel officially took up her position at the beginning of Term 1, bringing a wealth of educational leadership experience and a deep passion for curriculum development.
Rachel’s impressive career spans over two decades, including 12 years as Assistant Principal at Selwyn House School in Christchurch, a leading school in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP). She has also held senior leadership roles overseas, serving as Primary Principal at Eton House School Chengdu, Berlin Metropolitan School, and the International School of Basel.
Since returning to New Zealand in 2016, Rachel has made her mark as Principal of Patoka Primary School and OneSchool Global Rangiora. She is currently the Manager of Birthright Canterbury Trust, supporting children and families, and a Board member of Southern Health School. Her leadership style is renowned for being relational, culturally responsive, and student-centered.
“Rachel’s international outlook and commitment to educational excellence align perfectly with the values of Scots College,” said Headmaster Graeme Yule. “Her leadership will not only strengthen our Junior School but also contribute significantly to the wider College community.”
