Mrs Keryn Bindon is well known to the Southwell School community having served as Deputy Headmaster with responsibility for Years 0-5 since 2010. Prior to that she was Deputy Headmaster at Rototuna Primary during that school’s formative years.
Keryn's extensive experience and deep commitment to Southwell make her the ideal candidate for this role and was selected following a robust recruitment process that attracted excellent candidates from across New Zealand and abroad. As Deputy Headmaster Keryn has led some of the school functions which are most critical to our success – with particular focus on curriculum and professional development, academic assessment, pastoral care and the establishment of our International Baccalaureate transition programme. We are confident that Keryn will continue to build on the strong foundation of our school and lead us towards even greater achievements in the years ahead.
We are also delighted to welcome Keryn's family to our campus. Her husband, Matt, an Old Boy of Southwell (1980 to 1986), and their three children Lee (Old Girl 2017 to2022), Hugh (Year 5) and Monty (Year 2) are looking forward to living at Southwell and becoming an integral part of our on-campus community.
The Trustees and I would also like to extend our thanks to the Senior Leadership Team for stepping up to lead the school during term one and in particular Mr. Damian Mills for his service as Acting Headmaster. Damian’s leadership and dedication have been invaluable during this transitional period. Damian will return to his role as Associate Headmaster at the conclusion of Term 1.
The Southwell School Trust Board is looking forward to the next chapter of the school’s evolution under Mrs Bindon’s leadership and continuing to provide the best possible preparatory education.
