William (Will) Struthers is appointed as the Principal of Scots College Middle School

It is with great pleasure that Graeme Yule announces the appointment of Mr. William (Will) Struthers as the Principal of the Middle School, effective January 2024.

After careful consideration, the decision to appoint Mr. Struthers was made based on his exceptional skills, personal attributes, and his alignment with the current direction of the Middle School. The Middle School, currently in a commendable position with high demand for enrollment and strong educational outcomes, will benefit from Mr. Struthers’ leadership.

Mr. Struthers has been an integral part of the Scots College community since 2010, starting as a Teacher of English. Over the years, he has served in various capacities, including as a master in our Boarding House, the Assistant IB Diploma Co-ordinator, Head of Middle School English, and, most recently, as Deputy Principal of the Middle School since 2016. Prior to joining Scots College, Mr. Struthers accumulated ten years of teaching and leadership experience in both South America and the UK.

In his new role, Mr. Struthers has expressed a strong commitment to further grow and develop the Middle School. His focus will be on nurturing the desire for all students to be the best versions of themselves, encouraging them to strive for excellence and reach their personal and academic potential in a safe and supportive pastoral environment. Additionally, there will be a comprehensive review of the Middle School curriculum in 2024.

The appointment of Mr. Struthers results in a vacancy for the Deputy Principal position in the Middle School. Rather than rushing to fill this position, Scots College aims to carefully consider the makeup of the Middle School leadership team as Mr. Struthers implements his vision. To this end, Mr. Richard Found, an experienced UK Principal currently serving as the House Dean of Glasgow House, will act as Deputy Principal for Terms 1 and 2, 2024. Mr. Found will return to the UK in July 2024, and a permanent appointment to this position will commence in Term 3, 2024.

Headmaster Graeme Yule extends his sincere congratulations to Mr. Struthers and eagerly anticipates working with him as he undertakes this important role at Scots College.
