HISST Scholarship Grant 2017

Background

The Heads of Independent Schools Scholarship Trust (HISST) was established in July 1994 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to promote education, learning and research on matters affecting independent schools in New Zealand. An initial sum of money was donated from the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of New Zealand (AHIS) to establish the fund and grants are made from the interest earned on it. The Trustees are Gail Thomson and Heather McRae.

Saint Kentigern welcomes Mrs Merle Boniface to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer for the Trust Board with responsibility for the commercial operations of Saint Kentigern, including Finance, ICT, Marketing and Communication, Human Resources, Facilities Management, Major Property Projects and Risk Management. She brings significant strategic business and leadership experience to the role gained in the banking, education and Small Business Development sectors.

Prestigious scholarship for Marsden student

Samuel Marsden Collegiate School student Lucy Berger has been offered a scholarship to study at Peking University, the most prestigious university in China. Thousands of students apply but very few pass the entrance exams. “This is an extraordinary achievement for Lucy and we wish her all the best on this exciting opportunity to study abroad” says Marsden School Principal Jenny Williams.

St Peter’s Cambridge Art Educator invited to exhibit globally

St Peter’s Cambridge’s art educator Faith Thomas has been invited by Nuno Canelas - Curator and Director of the Douro Biennial and Global Print to exhibit in the 3rd Global Print 2017 and the 9th Biennial of Douro 2018. Both events are in Portugal and run for three months. The Biennial includes a conference and workshops and Faith was one of only two New Zealand printmakers selected to take part.
