Christ's College's under-18 eight has won the Maadi Cup at the 2012 regatta held in Twizel over the weekend.  In what has been described as a “blanket finish” the first four boats home were within four seconds of each other, with College winning Gold over Auckland Grammar by less than one second.

Following their recent SISS Rowing title, SMC can now claim the top spot nationally for all girls schools based on their results from 2012 Maadi Regatta. Crews acheived a medal haul of 5 Gold, 1 Silver and 3 Bronze medals and were placed 2nd overall nationally and 1st for all South Island schools.  The SMC U18 Eight were also awarded the prestigious Levin Cup for 2012.

Anyone who attended Kristin School’s 2011 production of Jesus Christ Superstar will be in no doubt of the astounding talent of its young lead performer, Joel Granger. Winner of Best Leading Male in a Musical at Auckland’s AMI Showdown Awards last year, Joel won the respect of many for his performance as Jesus of Nazareth in the hugely powerful production.

In a week when the heavens had opened across New Zealand with an unprecedented amount of rain, Director of the Preschool, Mrs Sue Nash spent a sleepless night before the official opening of Saint Kentigern Preschool, listening to the rain thundering down. Not only was she expecting a large number of parents, Trust Board members and invited guests for an outdoor occasion, but there was one other very important visitor.  Through sheer tenacity, Sue had persuaded the Prime Minister of New Zealand, the Right Honourable John Key to declare the Preschool officially open.  And to Sue’s great relief, he did so on a morning of cloudless, blue skies.
